Our Santorini private tour will show you the best of what our island has to offer, from historical sites to sunny beaches. Take a half-day southern Santorini tour with us and discover an island paradise that you will never forget. One of our local tour guides and a driver conduct this private five-hour tour of southern Santorini.
Lava from ancient volcanic activity on the island gives our beaches unique hues that make the clear blue color of the ocean pop in intensity. The red beach has sand-colored from the red lava cliffs directly adjacent to it. The black beach is another unique and picturesque site that has restaurants perfect to visit for a seaside lunch.
On our southern Santorini tour, we will visit traditional Greek villages that were founded in a variety of time periods. Emborio is the largest village on Santorini and boasts historic windmills. Views from the hill just outside the village reveal the Byzantine ruins of the Kasteli Fortress and the ruins of the Medieval tower called Goulas.
In the village of Megalochori, you will traverse old, narrow streets and view traditional island architecture.
At Pyrgos, the former capital of the island, you will take a guided walking tour down original pathways to view the Venetian castle ruins.
A tour of the southern part of Santorini would not be complete without a visit to Akrotiri, an ancient Minoan city that was destroyed by an epic volcanic eruption in 1450 B.C. There are legends that this is the site that inspired Plato’s story of Atlantis. Discovered in 1967, this site has been excavated to reveal advanced water drainage systems, household items, and multi-story buildings.
Another place that will offer unforgettable sights is the peak of Prophet Elias, which is Santorini’s highest mountain. After taking in the unmatched views of the surrounding ocean, the blue church domes, and the islands that surround you, tour the inside of the old Greek Christian monastery that is on the peak.
We also will take you to a local family winery where there are great views as well as wines that can only be found in this region. Your tour will inform you about viticulture with the volcanic soil of Santorini, and you will sample unique wines.
Food, drinks, and entrance fees are not included on this tour. However, for your convenience, we offer:
Several departures and drop-off point options including the airport, a ferry or cruise port, or your hotel
Flexible departure times
Air-conditioned minivan transport with a local professional guide
